Let's Dye & Paint Fabric

What you are looking at is my work in progress. I have been working on my fabrics and looked around at my work space and decided enough was enough. I asked Mike to help me with my fabrics. You know dyeing a little and painting a lot. After washing, soaking, rinsing, washing, hanging up fabric to dry, ironing, ironing and more ironing he saw the light. He decided it was time to make a studio. What did he say? LOL!!!!!!!!!!!! What you are looking at is the start of my new studio. We have been adquiring many storage units and wood to make a huge table in the center of the room. It will measure 12'x12' and I'll be able to run around in circles from end to end never having to move another piece of fabric till it is dry..........gasp!!!!!!!!!!! We have purchased a double porcelin sink, cabinets for top and bottom and washer and dryer. Going to pipe in some music and I'll dance till dawn. It's always interesting to go through a journey like this. With patience and a desire to do what is needed, you can do anything. I'll be posting the progress of my studio, crossing my fingers it should be ready in about a month. Thanks for stopping by :) CherylSee My Construction Project :)
This is the sewing corner :)
With rulers on the wall I'm ready for any design that comes into my head......day or night/night or day. Have ruler will travel!!

Walls were made for designing. I'm getting ready to put another up in my studio that will be large enough for any size of quilt. They are so wonderful to have in my life. I was just thinking.......what if I put a wall in every room. If I did that then if one of those suddent magnificant brain storms came when I was walking from my kitchen to the laundry room I could stop and draw a design........ Ok, let me get back into reality LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

WELCOME TO MY BLOG!
Hello everyone! First, I want to thank you for taking the time to come to my blog. I have never tried such an adventure so this should be an interesting adventure. I am a part of a several groups who focus is either on quilting or textile mixed medium. If this is what you are interested in then this is the place to come.
One of my favorite groups online is the www.quiltart.com group. This is an email group from a group of most talented folks who share their wonderful adventures and their willingness to share their experience. From the very beginner to the most experienced all are welcome.
Many of the folks at quiltart have a blog and I've read most all. I love it when they share their travels. One of the things I enjoy most is when they share their techniques. I may be in the middle of a wall hanging and need help. Recently, I was almost finished with a piece and decided I wanted to use paint sticks to get a specific effect. I painted the piece and waited 4 days for it to dry and then ironed to set the paint. The paint disappeared on the pressing cloth. I only had 10 days left to send the piece off. I talked the the folks at www.quiltart.com and found some blogs on the subject. I changed my brand to Shiva and waited 4 more days for it to dry and it turned out just fine. It was sent off in the nick of time. We need places to get help because no one knows every technique there is. And with the wonderful new discoveries that are opening up the world for us we all must share what we learn so others that come after us will be able to grow as we are. PSSSSTTTT........all are my opinions :)
I've learned that to share feels good so I'm going to feel good as often as I can.
Again, welcome and thanks for stopping by. Cheryl

Welcome to Fabrics of Love
I'd like to welcome everyone to my first blog. I want to share my experience with fabric and tell everyone how rewarding your life can be by breaking out of your comfort zone and trying something new.
The first time I quilted a quilt I had no idea how to start. I saw one online and decided I could do that so I cut out some squares and sewed them together. My quilting ability at that time was in the ditch and all of a sudden I had a baby quilt for my first grandbaby. Yep, he is of course the the most beautiful child that ever came into the world ). Then more grandbabies came into the world and I had to make more.
I saw a design of an emblem for a organization and decided I could make a quilt out of their design so off I go to design their emblem. The only problem was it was a circle so I revamped the emblem into a rectangle. The background was black and I used red, blue, yellow & green as the colors - plain fabric was the call. Since I didn't want to use white or black thread to quilt this piece I used invisable thread to quilt it by machine. Funny not knowing anything about quilting helped me to learn what not to do. I did finally finish the quilt and gave it to the organization for an auction. That is how I started my quilting career.
My name is Cheryl and thanks for stopping by :)
